UFO FILES#5-5

THE GLENEAGLES PARK UFO
Mrs Norma Burgess, a Hull housewife, claimed to have encountered a massive UFO in August 1971. The unidentified object hovered over her home at Gleneagles Park, near Spring Cottage Estate, swooping down three times. It was the noise emanating from the UFO which first attracted Mrs Burgess outside. At a distance the object sounded like a jet plane but, as she entered her garden, it gave off  a loud roar.
According to Mrs Burgess the object she saw was 'As big as a house and about 50 feet up'. She said it had twinkling yellow and red lights and that she had never seen anything like it before. Both the husband of Mrs Burgess and her neighbour, Mrs Jean Broadbent, expressed initial disbelief about the object, claiming that it must be a plane or helicopter. Later, though, they changed their minds when they saw the object circling high up above.
A Hull UFOlogist, Colin Watson, claimed that the object seen by Mrs Burgess tallied with one seen in Manchester skies the night before. Rejecting suggestions that the object seen by Mrs Burgess was only a cloud, Mr Watson said that 'We can only work on the theory that it could be some kind of alien phenomena'.

The Burton Pidsea UFO

On Sunday 18 August, 1994, Lucy Brooke, 19, of Burton Pidsea, was on her way to meet friends at a nearby pub when she saw a giant orange ball with something 'flashing on the top of it' hovering in the sky ahead. Lucy claims the object darted across the sky and looked like it was playing around. She went on to add that after sighting the UFO she was shaking with terror when she eventually reached her destination.
Contacted regarding this particular UFO Mr Tim Lewis, RAF Strike Command Centre, said there had been no RAF planes flying at the time. A spokesman for RAF Cowden also admitted that there had been no action taking place at the base on the night in question.
